Swim Lessons

Dad's Club Swim Start
             Learning to swim for life!
Why should you or your child learn to swim?

Physical Development
Swimming is a great activity to help in physical development. The sport requires coordination of arms as well as legs, unlike many other sports. Swim strokes are done with very different motions in arms and legs, aiding gross motor skills and mental agility.

Fitness
Swimming knows no seasons and is for all ages. It can be done competitively or at leisure, with the swimmer in control over the level of cardiovascular exercise and strength building. Swimming is well known as a low-impact activity putting little stress on bones and joints.

Safety
Parents should consider one of the recommendations by the American Academy of Pediatrics on prevention of drowning[1]: "Children need to learn to swim. [...] A parent's decision about starting swimming lessons or water-survival skills training at an early age must be individualized on the basis of the child's frequency of exposure to water, emotional maturity, physical limitations, and health concerns related to swimming pools (ie, hypothermia, hyponatremia, infectious illness, and lung damage from pool chemicals)."
