Graham Johnston, 1952 South African Olympian and Masters world record holder training at the Dad's Club, presents Head Coach Rey Aguilar with a traveling trophy commemorating the Wally Pryor Award for Distinguished Swim Clubs in Texas. Dad's Club Swim Team is proud to have been selected as the first club to be so honored.
The sculpture of Wally Pryor was originally commissioned to honor the Coach of the Year in 1964. Wally Pryor was given the original, and Jane and Pat Patterson were awarded duplicates as Dad's Club coaches. That year, Dad's Club had 28 individual age group National Champions, prompting Swimming World Magazine to name the team the Age Group Club of the Year. Both of these trophies have now been donated to the Texas Swimming & Diving Hall of Fame (TSDHOF), thanks to the Patterson and Pryor families.
The TSDHOF is located within the halls of the Lee and Joe Jamail Natatorium of the University of Texas in Austin.  A permanent display of the Dad's Club was unveiled during a ceremony on December 6.

Next time you attend a swim meet at that wonderful facility, take a walk down the hall of fame! It is truly amazing how the sport of swimming has grown in Texas on the backs of visionary individuals and strong swim teams.

From the comfort of your chair you can also visit the Dad's Club history section. We kindly ask you to consider a donation to the TSDHOF via that page, so that this worthwhile cause can continue its operation.
