TAPPS and SPC State Championships

This past weekend, Dad’s Club was well represented at the two major private high school state championship meets: TAPPS and SPC.

 The Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) state championships was divided into three different conferences based on school size and was held at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio. We had great representation at all three levels.

 Representing Dad’s Club at the Division I TAPPS championships was: Evan Lawson (St. Thomas), John Miggins (St. Thomas), Bridie Hibbler (St. Agnes), Kate Mischlich (St. Agnes), Allie Wieland (St. Agnes), Clarissa Vincent (Duchesne), Riley VanRyan (Duchesne), Eden Michaels (Duchesne), Grace Royston (Duchesne), Jill  Chandler (Duchesne), Anna Keogh (Duchesne), Kara Fields (AWTY), Brandon Mahan (AWTY), and Abby Partridge (AWTY).

 We had many top 8 finishes at this meet: Brandon Mahan – 4th 200 free, 2nd 500 free, Olivia Gore – 2nd 50 free, 2nd 100 free, Bridie Hibbler – 5th 50 free, 2nd 100 breast, Riley Van Ryan – 4th 100 fly, John Miggins – 5th 100 fly, 5th 100 back, Clarissa Vincent – 3rd 100 breast, Abbie Partridge – 6th 100 breast.

At the Division II TAPPS championships our Second Baptist School Swimmer performed very well. Representing Dad’s Club and Second Baptist were: Ryan Calderon, Grant Mueller, Sophie Newell, Chloe Tondera, and Thompson Tondera.

 Top 8 Finishes at this meet included:  Sophie Newell-- 1st 50 and 100 free; Ryan Calderon – 7th 200 free, 5th 100 free; and Thompson Tondera – 50 free 6th

Lucy McLean represented us and St. Thomas Episcopal at the Division III championships and brought home the bronze in the 200 IM.

 The Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) championship was held at the Conroe ISD Natatorium.

Dad’s Club Swimmers who participated included: Audrey Orange (Kinkaid), Marley Orange (Kinkaid), May Moorefield (Kinkaid), Peyton Pivec (Kinkaid), Lizzie Markovich (Kinkaid), Sydney Buchman (St. Johns), Lexi Pickens (St. Johns),  Will Sampson (St. Johns), and Mark Shoemaker (Houston Christian).

 Audrey Orange won double individual golds in the 50 free and 100 free—her 100 freestyle was also a new SPC State Record of :51.40.

 Mark Shoemaker was also a double individual gold medalist in the 200 free and 500 free.

 Other top 8 finishes included: Sydney Buchman – 1st 100 breast and 3rd 100 fly; Marley Orange – 200 free 7th and 100 free 4th; Lexi Pickens – 50 free 2nd and 100 free 2nd; Lizzie Markovich - 7th 100 back; May Moorefield – 100 fly 4th; Peyton Pivec – 3rd 100 back ; Will Sampson – 2nd 100 back.

 Kinkaid put up a stellar relay of all Dad’s Club swimmers and won the SPC title by over 5 seconds in the 400 Freestyle relay. This relay included: May Moorefield, Marley Orange, Peyton Pivec and Audrey Orange.
