Congratulations to the following swimmers who represented Dad’s Club at the Short Course 2013 Age Group State Championships (TAGS). 

The meet was held at the CISD Natatorium from March 7-10th.

10 & Under Boys - Ethan Jones

11-12 Girls - Sydney Buchman,  Kate Luo, Sophie Newell, Audrey Orange, Syuen See and Clarissa Vincent.

13-14 Girls – Christina Moreno

13-14 Boys - Clayton Bobo,  Jack Calderwood, Vincent Huang, John Kim and Cooper Wozencraft.

Our swimmers once again stepped up and delivered great performance after great performance.  Dad’s Club finished 17th out of more then 75 teams.

Congratulations to our lone 10 year old, Ethan Jones for participating in his first Tags.  Jones competed in three individual events, his time of 1:22.77 in the 100 breast ranks him 15th in the state of Texas. 

Individual finalist include:

Sydney Buchman – 50 breast 8th and 100 breast 15th

Sophie Newell – 50 free 8th, 100 free 15th, 50 back 10th and 100 IM 11th

Audrey Orange – 50 breast 5th, 100 breast 7th, and 100 free 16th.

Clarissa Vincent – 50 breast 2nd, 100 breast 2nd and 200 breast 11th.

Jack Calderwood – 50 free 11th, 100 free 10th.

Cooper Wozencraft – 100 fly 2nd, 200 fly 10th, 100 back 4th,  200 back 2nd.


Team Records

  • 11-12 Girls
    • Clarissa Vincent – 50 breast (31.59) and 100 breast (1:09.49). Vincent’s new marks make her the first 11-12 Dad’s Club girl to go under 32 seconds in the 50 and 1:10 seconds in the 100 breast.  Her time in the 100 breaststroke is also a new Sectional time standard.
  • 13-14 Boys
    • Cooper Wozencraft – 100 fly (52.35) and 200 back (1:52.67).  Wozencraft’s 200 backstroke time qualifies him for NCSA Junior Nationals.

The Coaches are especially proud of how the swimmers came together as a team to deliver some of the fastest Dad’s Club relays in history.

  • 11-12 Girls
    • 200 Free Relay – 1:47.98
      • Audrey Orange, Sydney Buchman, Syuen See, and Sophie Newell
      • The old record was set in 2007 by now high school seniors : Yoon, Manley, O’Loughlin and Geiser.
    • 200 Medley Relay – 1:57.04
      • Sophie Newell (back), Clarissa Vincent (breast), Sydney Buchman (fly), and Audrey Orange(free)
      • The old record was set 31 years ago by Salinas, TerPoorten, Allred and Menear.
    • 13-14 Boys
      • 200 Free Relay – 1:32.56
        • Cooper Wozencraft, Jack Calderwood, John Kim, and Clayton Bobo
        • The old record was set by Slocum, Brandt, Whitehill and Ohtaka in 1983.
      • 200 Medley Relay – 1:47.10
        • Jack Calderwood (back), Vincent Huang (breast), Cooper Wozencraft (fly), and Clayton Bobo (free)
        • The old record was set just last year at the same meet by Calderwood, Hranicky, Wozencraft and Delgado.

A special thanks goes to the Calderwoods for hosting this year’s Tags party, the Oranges for organizing the parade, and coaches Jane Swanson, Amy Jones, Becky Minear and Jason Devine for helping each swimmer attain their goals.
