Surcharge Notice

As many of you know, the temperatures of our 50-meter and indoor pools have dipped with the colder weather we have experienced lately. Fundamentally, the boilers for these pools need to be replaced due to age. Operational measures, such as lane assignments to maximize tarp time, have not been able to mitigate the boiler shortfalls through this winter season.

The Board of Directors (BOD) approved a February 2015 Surcharge to expressly fund replacement of the boilers. The surcharge will be billed to accounts on February 16th in an amount as described below:
  • Those with swimmers on the DADS USA swim team will be assessed an amount equal to the monthly coaching fee of the individual's or family's highest level swimmer. For example, a family with swimmers in the Blue and Gold groups would be assessed at the Gold coaching fee ($200).
  • Otherwise, members/users will be assessed an amount equal to the monthly fee for their corresponding membership or program, i.e., Masters and Tri at program levels, others at membership levels.
  • In the event you need the surcharge to be assessed in increments, contact me directly at john.burns@dadsclub-swimteam.com by February 14th.
The BOD recognizes that a surcharge is not to be used indiscriminately. The last surcharge was assessed in the 2010/11 winter due to fuel costs. In this case, the boiler replacement is critical to heat the club's lifeblood—our water—to continue the fantastic training that takes place here every day.

Finally, the current BOD is working diligently to improve the Dad's Club, with working teams focused on facilities, operations & programs, finances and development/fundraising. With the BOD's leadership and the mobilized support of the Dad's Club family, we will collectively enable even more success in our swim programs and competitive swim team.
