Masters Summer Sizzler

Dad’s Club hosted our first Masters meet. The Dad’s Club Masters Summer Sizzler was held on Sunday June 23rd and was attended by over 90 swimmers. The meet was a total success and we hope to make this an annual tradition.

Masters swimming has become one of the largest organizations in the world of swimming. Swimmers ages 18 & over of all levels have the opportunity to train and compete while having fun and getting in shape. Swimming is truly a sport you can do throughout your life. It is not uncommon to see 80+ year old swimmers taking part at meets.

Many of the athletes participating were former Dad’s Club swimmers themselves.

Kristy Ditzler was super excited to have the opportunity to swim at our meet and see old friends once again! She was especially shocked to see that her 9-10 age group relay buddies from 1975 were still on the record board at the far end of the pool (see also our Records section). Kristy has fond memories of winning 1st place at TAGS here at this pool in the 400 free and 100 fly way back in 1976 in the 11-12 age group. Her times were 4:44.26 and 1:11.26, respectively. Both were State records at the time. This weekend, almost 37 years later, she went 5:18 and 1:19. Kristy just started swimming again in 2012 after a 30+ year break, and is hoping to match her 11-12 times by the time she turns 50 next year!
