Congratulations to all the athletes who competed at the 2018 Gulf Age Group Championships this past December! The meet, held in College Station, TX, showcases the best 14 & Under age group swimmers in the Gulf LSC.

Dad's Club brought 39 athletes to the Aggie Land to compete against over 600 other swimmers. Qualifiers include Quinn Belmar, Bailey Bergen, Brynn Bond, Ava Ceraudo, Victoria Cone, Cade Duncan, Benjamin Farabond, Claire Fischbach, Finn Helman, Larkin Helman, Laurel Hoskovec, Amaury Jayr, Kassidy Kitchel, Ronald Liu, Cynthia Lo, Mark Lowe, Lexie Lukens, JP McCann, Alex Miao, Lowell Moss, Renee Nealon, Karl Nolte, Grace Oggero, Allison Ortiz, Ethnan Pedro, Avery Pham, Preston Pham, Brooke Powers, Pearl Reagler, Gwendolyn Skillern, Sydney Smith, Layton Snyder, Reid VanderVoort, Colby Williams, Kevin Williams, Eloise Williamson, Lindsay Wong and Megan Zuanich. Congrats to everyone who qualified for the meet!

Dad's Club swimmers raced hard and had a weekend full of fantastic performances, including several new TAGS, Sectional and NCSA Junior National time standards, as well as boasting over 70% best times from across the meet. Shout out to the following athletes for making their cuts and qualifying for the next level in the sport!

Ava Ceraudo - TAGS 50 Breast

Victoria Cone - TAGS 100 Back

Cade Duncan - TAGS 100 Free

Once the waves had settled and the points were tallied, Dad's Club finished 7th out of 44 teams. Our relays contributed heavily to our overall point total, as we had eight relays score in the Top 8, including two 1st place finishes from our 13-14 Girls in the 400 Free Relay (Smith, Kitchel, Reagler, Zuanich) and 400 Medley Relay (Reagler, Smith, Kitchel, Zuanich).

Scoring big on the individual side, it's important we recognize Renee Nealon for placing 2nd in the 10 & Under Girls High Point, and Sydney Smith for also placing 2nd in the 13-14 Girls High Point.

En route to her new NCSA Junior National cut in the 200 IM, Syndey Smith also set a new Dad's Club Team Record in that event for the 13-14 Girls age group. Setting a new team record is always a great achievement, possibly even more so given the long and rich history that Dad's Club has.

Gulf Age Group Champs marked the end of the first half of our short course season. The coaching staff was very proud of all of the athletes that competed and we are looking forward to continuing our success as we venture into the second half of our short course season!
