Changes in lap lane configuration of our 50m pool

posted Jan 17, 2013, 1:02 PM by DCST Webmaster
Dear Members,

Our facility and various swim programs have experienced tremendous growth over the past four years which has made us financially sound.  In addition, years of fundraising have generated funds that allow us to begin the renovation of our facilities.

This renovation will be done in phases. We will start with additional parking and finish with renovated Natatorium and locker rooms. A modest outdoor pool will be built to serve multiple purposes.
The Dad’s Club Board of Directors had targeted pool permitting and construction for this winter, with project completion by March 15. However due to board delays, the Board had to authorize immediate changes to support revenue generating activities:
  • The number of lap lanes in the 50m outdoor pool allocated to our members will be decreased between 5pm and 7pm.
    • From January 21-March 17, there will be ONE member lap lane during this two hour period.
    • From March 18 until the new pool is built or June 28, there will be NO lap swimming between 5pm and 7pm.
    • Changes only affect the few members who regularly swim during this two hour period on weekdays.
  • The outdoor pool will remain in short-course configuration until the first week of June, instead of the traditional change to long-course configuration in April.
  • The pool hours will change back to 8:30 closure on March 1 instead of mid-March to support longer evening lap swimming time.

We appreciate your ongoing support of the Dad’s Club. You will be kept abreast of facility changes, programming changes and progress via our website or via Twitter @DadsClubHouston.
