2016 SPC and TAPPS High School Conference State Championships

Many Dad’s Club swimmers participated at the SPC and TAPPS High School Conference State championships this past February. Both championships were held on February 12th & 13th. The SPC conference championships were held at the Conroe ISD Natatorium while TAPPS state was held at the Josh Davis natatorium in San Antonio Texas.

Dad’s Club swimmers competed against schools from across the state while representing their respective high schools.

SPC 200 free relay Kinkaid - May Moorefield, Audrey Orange, Emily Moak and St. John's Lexi Pickens and Noel Higgason.  

SPC Conference

  • Mark Shoemaker (Houston Christian)

  • Travis Allday (St. John’s)
  • Samuel Ho (St. John’s)
  • Noel Higgason (St. John’s)
  • Pierce Higgason (St. John’s)
  • Lexi Pickens (St. John’s)
  • Audrey Orange (Kinkaid)
  • May Moorefield (Kinkaid)
  • Emily Moak (Kinkaid)

Audrey Orange and Lexi Pickens both picked up individual first place wins for their schools. Orange took gold in the 100 free and 100 breast for Kinkaid and Pickens took gold in the 50 free for St. John’s. Picken’s winning time of 24.90 was also her first sectional qualifying standard.

Orange and Pickens joined some of their Dad’s club team mates to put together some of the strongest relays at the meet. Orange joined forces with Kinkaid team mates May Moorefield and Emily Moak in the two freestyle winning relays.  Pickens Joined St. John’s and Dad’s team mate Noel Higganson in both the freestyle relays to claim silver just behind the Kinkaid Falcons.

Other Dad’s Club swimmers reaching the podium in individual events were May Moorefield (Silver 200 IM) and Mark Shoemaker (Bronze 500 free).

Dad’s Club was also well represented at TAPPS State.

Second Baptist freshman Sophie Newell equaled Audrey Oranges’ SPC State feat by claiming two individual golds. Newell’s golds came in the 100 free and 100 back.

Other Dad’s Club swimmers earning a top three place in the podium were: Bridie Hibbler (Silver 50 free & 100 breast), James Zetka (Silver 100 back), and Riley Van Ryan (Silver 100 fly).
