Six Dad’s Club swimmers participated at this year’s NCSA short course Jr. Nationals.

The meet was held at the Orlando YMCA on Mar 18th-22nd. This is the fastest and most competitive 18 & under short course meet in the nation.

Maddie Robinson, Briana Burns, Elizabeth Jordana, and Annie Miller started us off on Tuesday night by moving up 24 spots in the 200 Medley Relay (53rd – 29th). Robinson’s lead off split in the 50 Back (27.28) is a personal best and places her 3rd in the Dad’s club All Time Top Ten in the Open division.

Briana Burns and Elizabeth Jordana each broke a team record in the 50 Open division. Burns' record came in the 50 Breast with a time of 30.20. Jordana’s record came in the 50 Fly with a time of 26.20. In the 50 Free Annie Miller turned in a personal best of 23.78. Her time was good enough to place her 41st out of 350 swimmers.

Turning in 100% best times, was Alice Read who competed in the 50, 100, 200 Fly, and 100 Back. Read also achieved her first NCSA qualifying time in short course yards with a time of 57.66 in the 100 Fly.

Jack Calderwood was our lone boy this year. His times in the 50, 100, 200 Back and 100 and 200 Free were all personal best and rank him on our 15-16 All Time Top Ten. His 200 Back time of 1:51.75 also places him on our Open Top Ten (4th place).

This was a very competitive meet with upwards of 500 swimmers per event. At this level it is not unusual to see hundreds of swimmers separated by only a few tenths.

Here are the top individual event move ups from our team.

Briana Burns – Moved up 232 places in the 50 Back (from 342nd to 100th)

Annie Miller – Moved up 147 places in the 50 Fly (from 302nd to 155th)

Alice Read – Moved up 125 places in the 100 Back (from 371st to 246th)

Elizabeth Jordana – Moved up 105 places in the 100 Fly (from 195th to 90th)

Jack Calderwood – Moved up 77 places in the 100 Back (from 236th to 159th)

This was a very good showing for our swimmers. This was the first Junior National competition for these swimmers with the exception of Briana Burns.
