Congratulations to Leonie Karkoviata for participating at this year’s FINA World Masters Championships. Leonie represented Dad’s Club and competed in the 50 & 100 fly, 50 breast and 100 back.

Over 10,000 athletes including 5800 swimmers from 97 countries converged on Parc Jean Drapeau in Montreal, Canada early August for the 15th. This bi-annual event is open to registered masters swimmers, synchronized swimmers, water polo players, divers and open water swimmers aged 25 and above. Over 1500 USMS swimmers from all over the US represented TEAM USA.

From Leonie:

It was an incredible opportunity and an amazing experience to swim at the World Championships. The camaraderie among swimmers was uplifting. Hardly a moment went by without a shared smile, joke, laugh or friendly encouraging conversation. Next year, FINA World Masters Championships takes place after the FINA World Championship in Kazan, Russia. This marks the switch to hosting the FINA Masters in odd number years with 2017 FINA World Masters Championship scheduled for Guadalajara, Mexico.

In the meantime, Dad's Club Masters Swim Team is looking ahead to the USMS Short Course Spring Nationals in San Antonio. Come join us!
